I've done work for an older gentleman for years, and a couple days ago he brings me his Roland PNC-1000A because of the cutting head not dropping, but X and Y axis is working fine. After tearing into it, I checked to make sure the electromagnet used to drop the head was still functional by applying a charge to it. I then tested the wires and traced them back to the junction board. I looked over all of the PCB's and none look damaged or have blown caps or any visible damage (in fact this thing looks like it just came out of the factory minus a bit of dust). I've got a new USB to Parallel cable on the way and should be here monday. Any ideas other than try a new cable?
