Need Help Roland GX-640 Cut Mark Identification Issues.

Hello everyone. Here is the setup: I'm trying to get functionality out of old equipment. I have a Roland LEJ-640 printer and separate Roland GX-640 cutter. Both are run through VersaWorks 6. I hoped it would be as simple as plug-and-play. I have ticked the print box that gives me the crop marks on the print job, but when moved to the cutter, it searches for the marks and keeps failing. It is not an issue of material. I could probably spend hours or days looking and trying variations.
I'm looking for a procedure/order-of-operation.
Can anyone advise?
