Roland LG-640 - how to get the strongest possible white?

Hey everyone.

I’m new here and wondered if anyone has had any issues with getting a strong white on the Roland LG series printer?

We had it installed this week, and we need to get a super strong white while printing onto the substance hyperneon yellow materials.

We have it setup as CMYKOR+Gl+Wh and we have had it modified by the installation tech to print white first by them switching the heads around. Because we only print stickers.

But, the neon yellow is very vibrant and it’s a big deal that we get a perfect white.

We’ve tried VW7, with a bunch of different configurations, but are struggling with it to be honest.

We are PrintFactory users primarily, for our fleet of Epson S80’s so we just got a trial license but having some initial configuration issues as it’s printing yellow instead of white (not sure if this is due to the head swap yet) but they don’t have any profiles available and neither does Roland.

If anybody has any profiles to try or settings or tips and tricks I’d love to hear about them.

I’ve not had a Roland since 2009 when we had an RS640, and not used VW in probably 15 years. Being used to PrintFactory and their automations just makes things easy. VW7 file setups for automated white generation is tough. Where as with PF it’s drop and go on the print queues with the Epson.

Definite newbie with the Roland so I’d appreciate ANY insight.

Thanks!
MD

Do you have a step by step settings example? Ive almost zero experience with VW sorry. It’s been a rough learning curve this week.

Are you used VW6 or 7?
In VW7 see attached.
keep in mind the white is not opaque. You may need to overprint.
Being you have Orange and Red you only have 1 white and 1 gloss channel So yes, you may need more white.
The “ink switching” method works best for the ink set CMYK Wh Wh Gl Gl .
The “ink switching “ is really for 3 layer printing. You can still print white first if “ink switching “ was not performed.
