Hi all,
I just starting working at a sign shop a few months ago. I am the only designer/print technician here. One of the first things the boss asked me to do was build a new work station. I did. Nice little quadcore machine.
I imported all the profiles from the old work station and thought that would be it. Not so. If i use the old print settings that the previous designer told me to use, my colors come out very faded and the blacks come out thick and wet.
It used to be to use linearization and a profile called ESM Glossy Calandered vinyl 720x720. Prints came out really nicely.
The only thing i can think of that changed is that roland tech support had me reset the printer when i was connecting up to the new work station. maybe the printer had ink limit settings too?
i am really at a loss and it takes me way too long to try to adjust each black in each project manually so that it does not come out super saturated. And i have a real problem when it comes to bitmap images. I am basically SOL.
I have tried creating my own linearization tables but that has not come out too well.
I am basically a newb, thrust into this world with no guidance. I went to school for design, not print profiles. The boss will not spring for hiring someone to set up color profiles so it falls on me. And i barely know enough to scrape by. The boss is apparently fine with my prints, but I know i can do better. And i'd much rather be able to just hit print and be done with it, than have to spend half an hour on each project for test prints.
PLEASE HELP.
