Roland VS 300i Printhead issues

Hello ladies and gents!
New account, beginner at roland products but we all got to start somewhere!
I just need some answers to a problem i've have. So i recently came across a Roland VS 300i, it was already used and sitting for a while and after checking on everything replaced captop, lines, ink, dampers, ect ive concluded that it needs a new printhead.
My problem is that I keep running into is I guess the model or part number?
I keep coming across just Epson Dx7 printheads not coded, 1st coded, and 2 coded. Around $500 or the genuine roland printhead for the vs 300i for around $1700-$2200 and I keep getting mixed answers to as if the epson dx7 printheads would work in the vs 300i I know its the same part basically but I guess it needs some kind of chip or voltage coding to work properly?
I'm just stuck at an impasse, if can save a few hundred dollars for what is essentially the same part I would. But if im going to buy a $500 brick for me to just be in the same position I am now then id rather just save my money and get the genuine roland part. Any insight would be appreciated!

Buy the proper DX7 head for $1700 ish. Anything else is asking for trouble. There is no such thing as cheap working heads, you either get cheap or working!
The 'coded' heads won't work on a Roland, they are just for random Chinese printers
