Roland Warranty ? Should I get it ?

I have a Roland VS-300i , I have it in my house as I only use it for printing ATV / Motocross graphics. Next month the warranty will expire and I got a letter stating the 1 year warranty is $1600.00

I have no idea if I should get it ? As far as the printer usage I'm not sure how much I use it compared to a normal print shop ? But I would say I probably print 20 feet of 27" material a week.

Any guidance from you all would be great.

Thanks !

I had my Roland for 10 years. I never had a contract. I'm not saying you shouldn't have one... especially for piece of mind.
Over the 10 years, I needed to change the head 3 times. A couple of small items like the encoder strip and cleanings.
I think over all I saved a bit of money.
My advice to you is to take the 1600. and put it away. Add to it every month as if you were paying the contract. Then, if you need service, you have the money to pay for it. At the end of the year you probably have money in the bank rather then in Rolands bank

Especially if you are learning how to do many of the service procedures yourself.

The big thing is if your printer has the DX4 heads or a newer all in one head. The DX4 heads are in the $800 range, while the newer DX5 DX7 heads cost thousands, and with all the colours in one head, if anything fails you can be out some serious money.

Thanks , I looked at some specs and I'm not sure what head the VS-300i uses. I will have to think about this a little more.
