Roland wiper motor

Hi all. Just curios. Do these wiper motors go bad after time ? I get the motor error a few times a week and the printer wiper and felt are very clean. I do manually rotate it and its fine for a few days. Then back to the motor error again. I bought the printer in 2013 so Im not sure if this is an item that needs to be changed? Or I have another issue?

Thanks all

Don't forgot to replug the sensor. If you hear a humming sound, when the wiper is homing, it's almost always a sensor problem. Stepper motors normally don't break in this configuration, except when soaked with ink...

If it doesnt work I do have sensors and motors in stock if you need them. The motors are pretty reliable, but they can fail randomly sometimes!

bad design kills
I've seen some gnarly wiper carriages heavily coated in ink, which can gum things up
Maybe take it out and give it a good clean if its one of those, and maybe a couple drops of lube.
