Roland XC 540: 2 center heads, (yellow and black,) lose ink on one side of their head. (top of pic)

Hal of my yellow and half of my black head keep quitting. I have replaced the captops and dampers, the head pins are not snapped off, cables are clean. I can pull ink through the dampers fine, I can pull ink from the cap lines,-- as long as i pull gently. I've heard talk of trading cables around and test printing to determine whether I've lost heads, or whether there's another electronic issue. I found a damper empty so I pulled it full again and carefully set it back on the head. still not printing that half. I've done overnight soaks and will again tonight. Maybe there's a seal or O ring at the back of the cartridges failing? How would you run at this, diagnostically, after all the parts changing and syringing? Or would you go ahead and change the head out at this point; I have a spare but hate to waste it till I know what's up.

Try replacing the ribbon cables.

Might have head issue. Is there ink around sides edges? Also do manual clean an pay close attention for dried ink around edges where cap seals to head. Do you have wipers and felts in machine?

Looking at what you’ve done so far, it doesn't seem like an ink supply issue, but just to be sure, you can swap the dampers to confirm whether the problem is with the head itself or the ink supply. If the issue persists only in the channel that was originally problematic, it would be, as you mentioned, either the printhead, mainboard, or cable.

Since you've already checked the cable, that leaves two possibilities.

I’m not familiar with Roland models, but with standard UV printers, a board issue usually causes all heads to fail completely. I'm not sure if Roland functions the same way.

Based on the models I currently have, this typically points to a problem with the head itself... though again, I can't say for certain with this specific model.

You can simply exchange the magenta ribbon with the yellow one (by crossing them at the damper), to be sure if it's a head problem.
