S3 TC160 OPOS CAM - Onyx Cut server barcode feature on holographic media

Hello,
I have been running my summa for about a year now and just got introduced to the barcode reader. I have it working for my gloss and matte media but I was wondering if there is a way to use the camera on Onyx Cut Server for my Holographic and Spectratek media that I usually use the camera profiles with. Right now we under flood the regmarks we add in Adobe so they are more accurate and readable to the camera. I am assuming the answer is no and I will have to keep going forward with the GO Sign Pro Pack which is fine, I would just like to reduce the amount of different software.

Have you tried to follow the user guide section 3.5.3 Mirror reflective media and OPOSCAM ?

Also if you are on the new Onyx V24 it now has automatic white overlay for the marks to help the cutter read (say if you happen to use black vinyl ex.).

We have the same cutter and have never been able to read barcodes reliably on holographic or chrome materials.

It’s frustrating because that was the main reason for purchasing this model. We sent materials to the supplier and they confirmed it was able to read barcodes from onyx, but it has never worked for us. They even sent an engineer to calibrate our cutter. It cut one job when he was here (so it is possible) but never worked again so we gave up.

We don’t add any crop marks in adobe. We use ‘Summa Sign’ cutter type to add simple crop marks in onyx, then apply white vinyl squares with a 2.9mm square hole cut in the middle over each mark. We usually have 6 or 8 marks per job and it takes maybe 30s to apply the squares, so quicker than separating out the job to layers in adobe. All cut lines are identified by spot colors in GoSign.

What firmware version is installed on the plotter? If it is older than the current (21), do an update and proceed with a manual "Calibrate media (OPOS)", press the test button to see the result of the selected value, you can move the head on the top of the mark:
