We recently purchased an SDS bender for producing trimless channel letters. We have everything set up except for the trimless coil, and I’m having trouble getting the coil to wrap flush around the letter. The coil isn’t sitting consistently along the edge, and I’m not sure what we’re doing wrong.
On the CNC side, the backs are cutting perfectly. Our faces are 1/4" acrylic with a 1/8" groove around the perimeter, as SDS recommends. When we run the file on the bender, we’re using the inside 1/8" line with no offset. However, I’m starting to think we do need an offset, because in some areas the coil doesn’t sit flush and leaves a small reveal. At the seam, the coil also doesn’t meet perfectly and leaves a small gap.
Does anyone familiar with the SDS trimless process know what might be causing this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated — we’re still new to the SDS machine.
