Hi all,
We recently produced a batch of signs for an arena on acrylic, printed reverse on Orajet clear, with white vinyl backing (generic digital white matte vinyl) and applied to the back. The material was then wet applied to thin anti-glare acrylic. We then applied strips of Tesa ACX Plus to the back for application to walls.
Today we got a complaint about the image bubbling and delaminating from the acrylic. From the photos I saw, the bubbles are appearing where we applied the tape strips. I suspect what happened is that they applied it to a wall, then tried to re-position (or somebody tried to pull it down).
We gave ample time between assembly steps to try to eliminate effects of outgasing etc. The signs left the shop in perfect appearance. Four out of 24 signs suffered the problem.
Is there anything we could've done to prevent this or is it installer error? I don't believe the acrylic is heavy enough to pull the image from the acrylic.
Thanks.
