TriStar Aerial & its subdivision, TriStar Express Signs is looking for someone to head our entire print division. The ideal candidate would be able to enter this role and be able to immediately start to bring in new business and sell our services to local organizations and businesses. It will be your job to generate income for this division of our company. You will be calling, emailing and cultivating business for this division, so self starter's are a must. The ability to go ABOVE and BEYOND would be best. Ideal candidate is detail oriented, creative and able to work with minimal supervision and be able to produce results.

Sign shop experience operating large format printer, laminator, saw and all sign making equipment, installing vehicle graphics and applying vinyl to storefronts and pylon signs, and all sign installation. Must have sign shop experience and preferably design experience using Corel. (If you know Adobe, we can provide that too) Sign assembly includes preparing substrates and applying vinyl according to written instructions. You must also mount and/or laminate prints, which includes operating and setting-up the laminator and mounting of digital imaged products. In addition, you are required to proofread signs and conduct quality control to ensure production of a quality, accurate sign.

As a Production Specialist, you will be responsible for all aspects of the physical production of signs, which includes preparing substrates and applying vinyl according to written instructions and under general direction. You must also mount and/or laminate prints, proofread signs, and conduct quality assurance to ensure the efficient production of quality, accurate signs. The ideal candidate is a creative, self-motivated team player who can work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and who is determined to make every project his or her absolute best.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for generating new business, seeking new ways to promote core products, generate new and consistent revenue and sales.
  • Responsible for preparation of competitive bids and work estimates, production scheduling, obtaining permits from municipal agencies, purchasing and vendor negotiations, budgeting and banking relations.
  • Ability to sell, produce and install car wraps.
  • Recruit, hire & train installers as needed.
  • Design graphics, operate large format printers (Mimaki), operate laminating equipment.
  • Through use of wholesale houses, offer products we do not offer in house but can provide at a competitive price.
  • Responsible for learning and understanding our existing core products.
  • Meeting sales and new customer quotas as required.
  • Performs quality assurance checks for spelling accuracy and visual quality of signs
  • Cleans and maintains production and warehouse area
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Installation/Removal of vinyl graphics to storefronts or pylon signs
  • Installation/Removal of larger signs
  • Updates inventory levels and lets company know when to re-order supplies
  • Weeds excess vinyl from computer cut images or vinyl and applying cover tape
  • Prepares substrates for application
  • Follows a layout to place computer-generated vinyl or full color graphic images on a pre-determined substrate or medium
Education:
  • High School Diploma Required.
Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use, operate and maintain large format printers & laminators.
  • Ability to create vector artwork with Corel & other industry standard software.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 7 and newer computers.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Ability to use e-mail professionally.
  • Ability to be on time.

I think that they are basically looking for someone to to run/build a business, If they have money behind it, it might not be a bad deal if they're willing to negotiate a little.

Yeah - that's what I was thinking. This ad is for someone to do everything for $19-$26 an hour... assuming it can all be done in a 40-hr work week. This seems a little unrealistic...
Yeah, but how many people here are making a whole lot less than that for a whole lot more hours as a business owner?

This was pretty much our thinking here. Everything is of course open for negotiation. We don't expect any person to do ALL of these things in a single day. I think that's a little insane. We essentially need an experienced GM to get this operation off the ground.
