Setting up CutContour in X5

Hi Guys,

I know this has been covered tons of times and I did the search and tried what everone said. Still nothing. I went to the palette window and added the "CutContour" color. Then i selected the outline in the correct color and open up versaworks and nothing. Do you have to set up versaworks to register a specific color? I recently bought a new computer and installed new software on it. My other computer which has corel 12 works great. The cutcontour is registered and works excellent. I didn't set it up so not sure what the process was. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks ahead of time!

Here's a list of things I've seen/read about with the cutcontour spot color not associating properly:

Make sure you're running Versaworks as an Administrator (right click on the Versaworks shortcut, click Run As, then Following User: Administrator).

Make sure you've declared it as a Spot Color under the Custom Spot Color palette and not just as a regular item in the default CMYK/RGB palette.

When exporting as EPS, try exporting as Version 2 and ensure that "Convert Spot colors to Process" IS NOT checked.

Tried all of that. Thanks though. Now maybe i am using the wrong color. I am getting my RGB color for CutContour based on my other computers RGB color. So i went into the pallettes folder and noticed a Roland folder so i clicked on that and there was a cutcontour color in there but i tried that and it still didn't work. How do i know if i have the right color? Thanks again.

You said you were using an RGB color? That is your problem. You have to use a SPOT Color. You are trying to use a Process Color. Read the Corel help on creating a new spot color. Then name that color CutContour. It makes no difference what color that Spot Color actually is.

Hey Guys. Just thought i would update everyone. I have tried everything i have read and nothing works. Even using the factory CutContour that comes standard with corel in the Rolands color swatchs. So i basically gave up. Then yesterday a sales rep from our main supplier swings by and I mention that i can't get it to recongize the cutcontour in versaworks. He hops on the computer and he can't get it either so he makes a phone call to a specialist and after diagnosing the issues we finally figured out how to get it to work. When saving as an .eps i had to use postscript 3 instead of 2. I read somewhere that they had to use postscript 2 for it to work so i never even tried postscript 3. Now it works. So just wanted to pass that info on so if anyone else had problems give that a try. Thanks for everyones help!!!!
