Side of trucker hats

On the side of a trucker hat can I heat press on the plastic net area? What are my options for decorating this side of the hat?

you can apply HTV to the side, this is NOT suggested because the material that spans the "holes" will fall off eventually.

direct embroidery or a patch sewn on is best

You can always bling 'em with rhinestones.

The only downside is that they'll get a trucker kicked out of a road house in a jiffy.

In the past, I would applique some fabric, slight offset around the design, and do something with that. Either more embroidery, transfer, or maybe print on it, just depends on design and/or substrate used.
