Silver preview tan. Approval too fixes it???

So this is odd. My "metallic silver" I use looks kind of tan on my screen. No big deal since it prints correctly. If I "send to approval" tool it still is tan looking on the approval screen. Oddly if I download the file from the cloud it looks silver as it should in this "new" file. Color is still the same from the swatch. Even copied the silver file and pasted it into the tan file and it turned it back tan. Any idea what could be causing this? This isn't critical but just found it really odd that the same color in the same file would preview differently depending on where the file came from.

You may have "Soft Proof" enabled/disabled in the different files. It's the little Monitor Icon that has a color wheel in it:

EDIT: This feature helps view what you prints will "look like" in real life against the color profile your hardware/monitor is using. Not very accurate, but it does change the appearance of colors when you are inside Flexi. Your exported proofs will bounce back to the hardware/monitor's default color profile when viewed outside of Flexi.

Yeah, my softproof enabled in either file does not change the appearance of the color. If I open the "silver" file I can import the "tan" one and all appears silver. And vice versa the other way around. Tracked it down to the default rendering intents do not transfer up to the cloud or back down since they get lost somewhere in that approval tool setting. So the difference in my files were the Relative vs. Absolute colormetric intents.

That would make sense. So I assume you use that tool frequently. Do you like it? We always just send PDF proofs here...

Actually I don't ever use it. Was testing it out to see if it may be useful or more efficient than email but I currently still do it the old fashioned way. Just seems like an extra step using the tool but may be useful for some. Then the color issue came up so was kind of intrigued on what was causing it.

One more odd thing I noticed that is (kinda) related. Before when I said clicking on the softproof button did nothing this was true. But I noticed if I go into my color settings and even if I don't change anything (just click ok), then the softproof appears correctly as it will print when I click on it. Weird things are happening with this program as it seems my default rendering intents go back to whatever the last file I open had them. This one file in particular has absolute colormetric when I open it (making my silver appear tan). But if I open another file and then go back to it, the intents change to relative colormetric (but the silver still appears tan). Both print the same no matter what....just odd that the intent settings are somehow saved differently by default and on screen they give different colors.
