Slot Cutting

So I have always used brackets or mounted directly to wood posts when putting up site signs. Recently I got a new customer that specifically asked for their site signs to be fitting into wood posts that are slotted. What power tool is easiest for slot cutting? I was thinking either a router or a drill press.

I have cut them with a router but I prefer a dado blade on a table saw. because it goes faster.
