Soft Proof? Is it on?

This has come up many times at work and finally am asking you guys....how do you know for sure when you have Soft Proof turned on? I can see the color change most of the time when I *think" I have clicked it on, but there is no 'check mark' or other indicator, like PS does, to show that it is selected. Any ideas?

There is a Icon for soft proof. When the Icon looks depressed it is ON. Just like the one directly to the left of it, which is the swatch table one. If you have colors at the bottom of your screen this button should look depressed also. See attached.

I don't think that is correct. There is no change to that icon when I switch on or off in the menu....the one you point to simply opens the Color dialog box.

EDIT: Hard to see your photo, but now I notice I don't even have that icon on my screen. It is the Swatch on/off toggle and Color box....all I have.

See this one. I blew it up a couple times. This is Flexi12 but the soft proof button has been around awhile. I can rmemeber it some years ago also. Might not have it enabled. Right click on top of screen in toolbar area. Make sure Standard is selected. Then you get the bar I am talking about. If I go to view>soft proof and click it their it also changes on the toolbar on top of my screen.

Also, in the view folder their is a icon next to soft proof. When selected this icon gets a transparent box put around it. That is another way to tell if soft proof is on.

WTF...I have 12, and do not have anything you are referring to. Maybe it is specific to certain Workspaces? I use a customized Inspire workspace. No icon, no "Standard" when I right click the toolbar area.

That's what I was saying, I can only do it by going to View>Color>Soft Proof....but there is no indication whatsoever to tell me it's on or off. I can only see the color shift and assume the "right" one is the one that looks best.

SOLVED: It IS the workspace. Just changed to Default instead of Inspire. Completely different setup of tools.

If you are used to the "inspire" look turn that back on then under the top "view" menu >Toolbars> check the box for standard. You can also grab the toolbars and drag them to different places if you want.
