The Solara Ion V is basically the same as the X, just 4 print heads instead of 8. As a result, it will print slower. We have the Solara Ion X and it prints great for us every day. The only thing to be aware of is that any UV flatbed printer (true flatbed or hybrid) is sensitive to humidity. The Solara Ion's can only operate between 40 to 60% hunidity (so in Hawaii, you would most likely have to put it into a air conditioned room or building). If speed is not a problem, the V should be a good entry level UV flatbed. Another thing with the Solara Ion's is that they are a true flatbed, not some pull-through design so you will get better registration for double sided projects.
Hope this helps!
