SP-300 Roland-Carriages Disconnectd

My sp300 roland machine is giving me problems, I have contact roland they told me my linear encoder needed to be change, I have change the linear encoder, I'm still getting the carriages disconnected and my print is printing double. Can anybody tell me what the problem could be?
