SP-300V not recognizing new cartridges

I've had this problem for some time now which normally pulling it out and re-inserting it a few times will remedy the situation. But a few weeks ago I had to reinsert the cartridge about 25 times before it finally noticed it was in there. Replaced two in the last day and didn't have too much problem. I think the black was noticed the first time. The yellow took a couple of tries. Can't remember the one that gave me a hard time but I think it was magenta. There are new OEM inks. Just wondering if the connector needs cleaned (I'm guessing) and what is the best/safest way to do it.

if it's showing the cartridges as not inserted instead of empty, there is a button at the end of the cartridge bay that detects when a cart is fully inserted. I think it's white, but a long stemmed screwdriver or similar tool can press it, and give the same result as a cart put in. If pressing it works, but the cart doesn't, it could be a bad IC (chip) on the cart. You could cover it with tape, or take it off to see if it works without it.

Okay, if there is a button that senses when the cartridge is inserted that is the problem for sure. Because it happens a lot with different cartridges. Some are worse than others. But it just keeps beeping at me like the cartridge isn't installed...nothing to do with ink level. I always get it to work...though sometimes it takes pulling it out over and over to get it to finally sense it.
