Need Help SP-540V Encoder Strip On VP-540i?

I have a like new encoder strip for my old SP-540V. My VP-540i may need a replacement encoder strip. Can I use the SP strip on my VP?

If they are different lengths can I manually cut the SP to fit?

What do I need to do as far as calibrations when I replace the encoder strip?

it looks like both are 180 DPI so i would say yes it would work
If you look on page 3-65 in your service manual it shows step by step how to change it
and on page 4-34 it shows you how to set it up
