SP300 cap height adjusment

The Giraffe

New Member
This was asked in an older thread but I don't think we ever got a definite answer.

In SERVICE MODE the 12th option down is CAP ADJUST. It allows you to determine the correct cap height after changing cap tops. Does anyone know the correct procedure?

Curiously, the CAP ADJUST option isn't mentioned in the service manual or notated in the drop down menu on page 195. It should fall between LINEAR CALIBRATION and CROPMARK SENSE.

Anybody got an idea?

I was talking to a Roland tech and he said there is no need to do a cap height adjustment when changing the caps. He said some of the stuff is for the first time set up.

No, he just said look and make sure the caps are covering the heads. They are on springs so as long as the caps hit the heads center from left to right and also push up high enough to make contact and depress the springs.

I am no expert here so I hope someone who knows more can answer for you.
