SP300V Odd Test Print

Hey guys --

Printed all day yesterday with no hiccups, then shut it down and woke up to the printer beeping with all four ink cartridges flashing on the LCD as if they were all empty. So i turned off main power, turned it back on and it was fine after that. Started printing today and print looked odd so I rattled off the test print below. The printer shares Black/Blue and Yellow/Magenta heads, which is why I find it super odd that there's black in all four colors just on one line.

I manually cleaned the entire printer (heads, cap station, wipers), and lightly dabbed the bottom of the head with a clean swap/cleaning fluid and did another test print right away and it all cleared up. Then I went to print again and it's back.

Any suggestions? I've never seen black in all four colors before....I've even tried printing a couple feet to see if it'll clear up and nothing.

Matt

Woke up as in the next morning you found the printer beeping?

Power off, unplug and let it sit for 10-15 minutes for everything to discharge.

Plug back and power on. See if any change on test print.

I have seen similar issues to this and was long ribbon cables, short ribbon cables or mainboard. I have not seen many print carriage boards fail.

It was beeping and flashing that all ink cartridges were empty. Could be completely unrelated?? But there are three full cartridges in there and one half empty. So I powered down main switch and powered it back on and it was totally fine after that.

Why would that ONE line on Magenta, Cyan and Yellow have black in them?

I let the printer sit all day yesterday and fired it up this morning, immediately did a test print and it came out 100% normal. Loaded print job, hit print, and problem comes back....

I should also point out that there's black speckles all along the left edge (furthest from capping station) of the print in the white space...down the entire print.

So it appears if I leave the printer OFF for an extended amount of time, fire it up and run "test print" the test print shows 100% clear. Run first print, first inch the problem comes back. Run a test print and the black lines are in the test print over magenta and yellow and cyan again. Let it sit for a while, fire it back up and test print, gone.

Any ideas?? I have work to do! :(

No idea why, but unplugging for about 2 hours and then plugging it back in did the trick. Mysterious technology.
