Sp540i Bad Printing - Clear Bands

Hi there,

I've been having this printing problem with my Sp540i and haven't been able to find an answer yet;

The thing is I have clear bands appear (that is, bands with less color than the color required) on surfaces where I have a plain color. The more intense and the darker the color, the worse it is. I'm pretty sure I'm doing maintenance right; test prints come out perfectly fine, dumpers and wipers are brand new and I perform maintenance regularly, although it may be down to a worn component, I don't know. I also did a media feed calibration again and I'm running the printer with the printer settings, not versaworks settings; also tried unidirectional printing, which proved effective for a very short while. I've attached an image which shows the problem. The thing appears everywhere, but only becomes clearly visible when I have the kind of colouring as shown in the picture.

How old is the machine?

Did you clean the encoder strip? ( this is my #1)

Have you tried different media?

Are the new dampers Roland or 3rd party?

Are you using 3rd party inks?

Could the heater be fluctuating or on the correct setting?

Try setting up bands of about 12" x 52" of each colour (cmyk) and see if there is
one colour that shows any issues.

Had same issue... after everything was tested and many parts were swapped, we simply replaced pinch rollers, and that was the problem, it was not feeding materials properly.
P.S. I have exactly same printer.
