Been lucky the last 28 years here living in Orlando able to take a hour drive watch the shuttle blast off or just watch looking East as it goes over the trees, the TV usally offered the best view but seeing it live was always so cool as it lifted off, then shortly hearing it & shortly after that the rumble of earth.
Watched take off Wed. on TV wow just like that picture just to cool.

What amazes me watching all this happen since the X 15 now seeing the Mars through Curiosity & ya get 360 degree views WOW.

here is a link for all of the pics i took

I was always amazed that I could see the takeoff's so well from the west coast. And on several occasions. I got to hear the double sonic booms as they returned.

Very cool! I believe that was actually a heavily modified Boeing 747 that flew over your house...with the Endeavor in piggyback, headed for L.A. International and then on to Edwards Air Force Base.
Tomorrow, at 7:15am it will and take a four-hour low-flying tour of California, from Sacramento to San Francisco to the L.A. Basin. Part of the flight will include paying homage to several of the businesses and organizations that have supported the manned spaceflight program over the years, such as the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Griffith Observatory and the town of Mojave, home of more than one aerospace company. In addition, photo-opportunities will be available as the orbiter flies over Disneyland, the Getty Center and Universal Studios. An excellent opportunity for others in it's path to view.

The end of the road was today in Los Angeles. I saw it running up the coast west of Disneyland up to Long Beach and then one final loop around LAX. It was sad to see it go but inspiring at the same time.

The next time it is in public will be on a tow truck to its final resting place. Now that will be a 2 day block party.

I have an Uncle who was an astronaut in the 90's and was on a total of 4 missions in space. 2 of them were on the Endeavor. His name is Thomas D. Jones. If you have seen any of the shuttle news lately then you probably have seen him on Fox news.

He had sent some stuff to my brother and I after his first mission which was on the endeavor. My mother went and saw him take off in September of 94.

I have not seen him since the late 80's when he was going to school at the U of A in Tucson. Long time ago now. We had a ton of stuff that he sent to us from the early missions. I should see if I can find the boxes with all the stuff at my parents house.

Wish I had gotten to see it fly by.

Hey SebastienL. Wow. I went to see it at the airport in Ottawa. My parents still have the pictures. I was about the same age.

as i gazed upon that beautiful piece of carbon tiles and titanium fuselage, i thought to myself...

thank god for private industry.

not only did we parade a massive economical failure about the country on its final flight, as it sat atop a tax payer filled gas gussling whore of a transport, i thought to myself...

thank god for private industry.

short while later i watched on the news how towns fled their government owned seats and migrated to roof tops to see how this embodiment of a failed space program brought tears to their eyes... tears of joy, tears of economical stupidity and i thought to myself...

thank god for private industry.

as they cut down those 400 trees to get that pile of space junk to its final gov paid museum/hanger, i think to myself...

i need to work for the government.
