STS EcoSol Max 3 problem with black ink.

I have migrated the old and out of warranty BN-20 to Max 3 STS inks from and the black color looks bad when compared side by side to OEM. I did not have high expectations but it is almost unusable. Nozzle check print shows no problems, but the black filled print itself is bad. Other colors look good. Is it possible to move only black cartridge back to OEM and save on ink using color CMY? I did not flush the lines as STS was advertised as drop in replacement. Is it a common problem with black ink formula?

Max2 was not an option for BN-20. It was either MAX or MAX3 with a tool to migrate from Max to Max3. "BN-20A" runs on Max2.
