Need Help Summa F-Series Vacuum not holding down material

Hi all,

We are having some trouble with our Summa F-Series Flatbed and are hoping someone may have a solution.

Often when we are cutting reflective, especially cuts with rounded corners, the vacuum has trouble holding down the material. This causes the material to bunch up and ruin the cut. I'm wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem? Our cutter is hard-wired to our air compressor. Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Which model? 1612? Do you know you should align it at the right edge and then adjust the vacuum zone?

It doesn't use the air compressor for it. Only the vacuum pump.

How wide is your material? If you material is ending in half of a zone, leaving the other half leaking air... And then if you're trying to cut right on the edge of the roll there's not much you can do.

Try to keep the cut at least one to one and a half inches from the edge of the material so that the edge has some hold down.

There's been a few times we are printing reflective and have to cut very close to the edge... We usually pause it and add a piece of masking tape to the edge to hold it down. Not very easy to do if you're doing a whole roll, but if you know you have a problematic cut that's very close just tape the edge down if possible.

I found the books down to be good, but not great.. if your table has any suction then I doubt your vacuum is messed up, more than likely you just have to learn to work around the machines limitations

I would also make sure your vacuum adjustor works correctly if you have the tube model.

Also worn out belt will dramatically reduce the vacuum. Consider getting a new one if it's getting old.

Hi,

Our cuts are usually edge to edge, so I imagine that's what the issue is. Thank you for the insight!
