Hey there, the studio I work at bought a new Summa S2 160 T Series about a year ago. This has been an issue for some time, but I've recently come across some spare time to try and hopefully diagnose/fix the issue.
It seems like it's a simple enough issue to fix; whenever I turn the machine on, it ALWAYS thinks that the pinch rollers are down, and will immediately start trying to go through its loading process (reading the position of the pinch rollers, material size, etc). It won't go through the loading process if the two media sensors aren't covered, so I don't think it's an issue with either of those, as they seem to work just fine by indicating whether or not material is loaded, as well as the leading and trailing edges of a sheet.
This means that while the machine is ON, once a job is finished and I lift the pinch rollers to remove the media, the carriage head does NOT return home.
The carriage also picks up all 4 pinch rollers perfectly fine, so I don't think it's an issue with the sensor at the back of the carriage head. What else could it be? Is there a sensor attached to the lift cam at the back of the machine, the one that raises and lowers the pinch rollers?
Currently, we get around this issue by simply turning the machine off, which effectively unlocks the carriage and allows me to gently move it all the way to the right and load the material.
A final note: the carriage DOES find it's origin/home position perfectly fine, it just starts doing it while I'm still trying to load the machine with the pinch rollers UP. Thanks for any help or insight!!!
