SummaCut D60 is missing FlexCut full pressure settings

I'm trying to get FlexCut + Contour cut to work on my SummaCut D60/U but I just can't seem to get this to work!

I can do FlexCuts if I enable it from the cutter but if I turn it off and use the CMYK red on WinPlot as indicated in the documentation, it just uses full pressure to cut. I am using CMYK red (100% Magenta + 100% Yellow) and I've enabled "Cut red lines in FlexCut mode"

I am using the latest SummaCut firmware and WinPlot as of today. Is there something I'm missing?

Looking at your settings, your flex setting is way too high. Full pressure should be 300+ and flex pressure closer to your normal knife pressure of 170 (which seems high also for vinyl maybe time for new blade).

Flex length looks too short, bump that up to 2.0 for testing and work it down from there until you have problems. You can use partial numbers like 1.8 to fine tune the setting.

Thanks for the reply. It's already in the red layer and I tried changing the flex pressure to be 170 but it didn't work. Also, I just learned that my cutter is missing the Full Pressure Setting!

Is it possible that the older models don't support FlexCut via WinPlot?

Using normal knife pressure as 300 and flex pressure as 170 works if I turn on FlexCut from the cutter but since it's missing the FlexCut Full Pressure setting, I'm thinking that maybe this model doesn't support Normal Cut and FlexCut at the same time.

Flex cut is, in Summa speak, “Full Pressure” and “Flex Pressure”. Normal pressure is irrelevant. Think of full pressure as perf pressure and flex pressure as kiss pressure. It’s time for you to call Summa tech support. Could be junked up firmware or something else hardware related.

I'm able to get flex cut to work by using knife pressure as the full pressure but I can't do kiss cut and flex cut at the same time. Since this is an older model, maybe it doesn't support it but I couldn't find any information on the Summa website. Maybe there's a bug in the firmware but there aren't any links to the older firmware either.

Hello I know this is ancient but I lost many hours trying to figure out as well. Anyone have done it? I also have the first model that is not the same as YT videos show...

The older Summa cutter models like the D60U do not support flex cutting. SummaCut R Series, S Class, S2, S3, and S One D Series are the only models that support flex cutting.

Flexcut is supported for a very long time.(30 years i guess) If you find it in the menu settings, it's there.
BUT
CMYK red isn't recognized in Winplot, try it in RGB and it works.

I figured it out after founding the technician manual and some help from ChatGPT (finally AI for something useful...)
This model does have flex cut but with a big caveat, you can't use kiss cut and flex cut at the same time. When you configure what to cut through you can't set the full force in the flex-cut menu, you only can set the half cut force there and you configure the full pressure in the general pressure setting of the machine.
As of that when you want to do a kiss cut and a flex cut, the machine try to cut the kiss cut with the full force you have registered.

So flex cut can only be used for cut something like for example a printed 120gsm paper (I did for inside an invitation decoration, it worked fine) or flexcut vinyl and first do the kiss cut and pass it again for the flex cut. I haven't tried it yet, but there is no reason not to work. I was trying to do it at the same pass for years and never worked but never realized that this is just not possible to be done together.

Other than that print and cut stickers can probably also work with just using flexcut because the half cut will be at the same level of the kiss cut anyway, so you just can't have the kiss cut a bit smaller than the flex cut as I wanted, but it will work ok.

Kind of sad as it add a big extra step in the workflow but this is what I have now, I will roll with it.
