Swatchmate Cube - Capture the Color of Any Surface

Has anyone seen this? Place the cube on any surface, capture the color and save the swatch to your phone. I wanted to kick in when it was first on kickstarter but I hope it goes into production soon. Pretty cool idea.

Maybe its me. But I have never had one of these types of devices ever come close to the color I was trying to scan.

I would really like to know how this is any better than the pantone color readers that were around in 2004 and would read out different builds from the same color block depending on where it was placed.
