Switching Mimaki from Firewire to Parallel in RasterLink - Please Help

Hey All,
I have been having some communication errors with my printer via firewire and the general consensus is to change it to use a parallel cable. Well I went out and bought one and hooked it up and all is well but the rip is unable to recognize the printer via the parallel cable.

I went into printer management and it doesn't show up in their either.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kurt

i never could figure out how to make the parallel work either. there's a great deal of discussion about firewire cards and their fragility and finickiness on jv3's on the jv3 yahoo message board.

I used the parallel port to print from the mimaki ,
however its a waste of time, the transfer was so slow I could probably paint the image faster by hand than wait for the printer to spit out the image...
you gotta go to your rip setup and switch from firewire to parallel...
like I said again it is a waste of time.
