Technical question about printing on Cooley flex material

We print alot of flex faces and we have noticed the side we usually print reversed/mirrored (the rougher side) ends up being a much better print than the smooth side, the smooth side is what we have been useing for the 1st surface print and then laminate. Could we have the rougher side as the 1st surface and liquid laminate that side?
