test print - black - isn't correct

My test print isn't correct, I have attached pictures so you can see what I mean by incorrect. This has been running this test print for a few months now... but before today I wasn't sure how to even start fixing it... So far I have ran:

- Replaced wiper
- (6) Head Clean
- Nozzel Wash - 30 minutes
- I clean it almost every 2-3 days, clean the capping station and heads.
- I have checked the heads for any ink or debris build up.

Oh also, I have labeled the test prints (1 - 6) (the long one isn't labeled, but the test prints go from (1) left to (6) right. 1 was the first print and 6 was the last. There seems to be a little bit of improvement but not much... any help would be much appreciated.

I know this won't make much sense, but I was having the same problems and I switched my head height from high to low and it prints perfectly now. Maybe try that and see if it works for you .

I'll give that a try, the only thing is I've tried to change it before and it didn't seem to move it all, but then again I just started working with the printer and was very afraid to break it lol!

changing from high to low clearance for the head won't fix that much..... still it should be set to a minimum clearance for most standard vinyls.

myself i would start a head wash over night to losen anything in the head itself. set the head to do it's soak and then turn the machine off at the wall and leave it over night. come back in the morning and see what the results are

p.s. when taking pics close up of the the test print set your camera to macro for them to come out clear

I had the same problem when I got my JV33 printer(used) on March, after I have done several bunch of nozzle washes it clear it self and printed perfect. Don't be shy to set your nozzle wash 99 min cycles and do test print after each nozzle wash and I promise you you will see the difference each time. All you need is some patients and time. Like RADIOHEAD suggested you can leave it overnight as well.

Soaking the heads more often is good as mentioned above. Also I little trick I found was take a small squeeze bottle witha needle point on it. put that oem solvent you use to clean the heads with and carefully shoot solvent into the heads without touching them with the needle point. Especially the black head. Then do your nozzle wash like normal. and run a couple test prints and see if it helps.

i am having this same problem !!! i have had no luck here is what i tried .... head soak. nozzle wash, new wiper, pulled dampers fluched with solvent till clean , while dampers are off i pushed cleaning solution threw the black head, (only the left channel is where my problem is exactly as yours is) filled up ink, pulled black suction down at pump, slid head over all the way to left cleaned it perfictly clean, did data cable swap, its killin me
it printed perfict one day then boom now it same as yours except left channel only. now im running bulk and what i think is baddddddd ink i know it sounds weird but as the guys prior post it cleared its self with a lil patiance. so thats where im at i also lowered the head to thin and it printed a little bit better but not much , if you find out what happened to yours please post the resolution to the problem . if i find out first ill keep ya in the loop.

redZsigns you have done all the right things there but it is sounding like your head is gone if it's not wanting to clear up... the other person to ask some advice from on here is ARTBOT . he is great when it comes to all things mimaki

just for reference what is the ink you are both using?

i use durafos solvent ink ... its a good ink so far .. deff dont think is the head going because one day it test printed perfict hours later bamm it look like tha only on one channel . i also have a post about this i beleive artbot gave some imput on data swap to rule out the head and i did rule it out so im left with a nother reply to my post that it was bad ink ... imm gonna give it some time to see what happenes ill keep ya in the loop..

wow thats for all of the help so far guys!, Ill soak the heads tonight for sure.

I am running Grimco 20/20 inks, we have been running them for about a year now. Before that I'm not sure what the shop was running, nor do I know how the printer was printing...

Also this might be a dumb question.... but what are dapers, and how do I get to them...

From the ink cartridge the ink goes through the lines and into dampers that hold ink and dampen compression-regulate the flow of ink into the heads. They sit on top of the heads.
