Roland mentionned a new head technology but can't find yet any informations about this
Wouldn't be surprised if its a modified i3200 lol. I was looking through the manual and head and capping station looks similar to i3200 which would be the best head by far roland has used.

Why are they so secretive with specs?

S9170 owner. I have had it now for 3 months and absolutely love it!! Came with a 1 year subscription to Onyx Go Plus. I upgraded from an old Mimaki JV150 and I am truly blown away by the speed and quality of the Epson. Ink cost is cheaper than my Mimaki even though I was using third party inks. I think eventually I’ll grab the S8170. The white ink option is pretty nice, but you do waste a lot of ink switching from 10 to 11 and visversa.

Reviving an old thread... Coming from a 2 year old Roland printer, this is another level. I've been told to switch to Epson for a long time. Better late then never!!

There is a reason why Roland, Mimaki, Mutoh and similar brands all run Epson heads (Epsons last generation heads that are almost 10 years old now) They tried out other brand heads but are all back to Epson heads. Epson keeps to latest head tech for themselves
