trying to send a font!

trying to send a font to a printer and it is an adobe type and it keeps turning into pfb any idea as to why

Is it zipped? It's not unusual for fonts to get corrupted over the internet if they're not. By Adobe Type, do you mean it's an old Type 1 font? If so, there should be a PFB and either an AFM or a PFM to have a complete font.
