I have a UJV-160 that has been having problems tracking its posistion while printing(see attached pic).
attachment.php

After cleaning the dust off the linear encoder strip and out of the sensor, as we have done before to make this problem go away, we got this "ERROR 09 HDC POSCNT". The Mimaki tech support said we needed to replace the linear encoder strip. Did that and still geting the same error. Any help would be appreciated.

and you cleaned the sensor that reads the encoder strip?

loosing an equal distance with each pass?
Check the carriage belt and motor...
Sounds like its slipping.

the stepping is from encoder issues, which he/she knew.

after cleaning the strip and sensor, an error popped up

I'm sorry,
I have to say the obvious...it was mentioned the encoder was replaced and the cable for the sensor checked, but perhaps they overlooked cleaning the actual sensor.
But it sounds more like the latter I mentioned.

So if the display isnt switching between on and off when you move the head what does that mean?

One more question. So when performing the check encoder, the m number changes but the e number does not. Does this mean it could be the encoder is bad?
