I think a lot of men do realize the value of a woman who doesn't work or who isn't the bread winner, and I think a lot of times working women miss out on their real value. I know I did!
My kids had to go to daycare when I got divorced and it was devastating to them. I started my business when they were in middle school. I missed out a lot of things with my kids to be successful, but it really meant nothing. What a fool I was. When my son started racing a few years ago, my ex-husband and me put everything aside to help him. He failed for 3 years, lots of tears, lots of disappointment. We never gave up on him. This year, I stopped working on Fridays and Saturdays to help with meals, cleaning the car, you know - woman stuff. My ex spent many, many late nights helping rebuild our race program (cuz I'm a woman, I don't know how to rebuild a motor, but I CAN cook!). Well, my son finally won his first big race. His dad was crying like a baby. I called my MOM, because she's the most valued person I know, who's never really worked, won an award or had any personal successes except supporting my dad and my sister and I. After all the excitement was over, my son said to us, "You guys never gave up on me. Thank you for all your help." etc... And my ex-husband thanked me for all my help...first time in 25 years he said thank you.
So, here I am, still cooking my ex-husbands favorite meals for race night, sewing race suits, running around to get parts, cleaning the race car - doing woman stuff. I have NEVER FELT MORE VALUED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.
Two thumbs up to any man, like my Dad, (and I guess my ex-husband) who still values a woman staying home doing "nothing". That man is rich even if he's poor.
