I've got a potential large project on the horizon that would require more width than our current 44" aqueous printer, and media that wouldn't run through it (fabric). Current laminator is only 4", and isn't R2R.
I'm considering a dealer refurb 365 for the following:
Fabric banners hanging in an historic arcade.
Contra vision window graphics
60x120" banners, mostly one sided, against walls, but potentially some 2 sided.
Local dealer (with techs), price is good. I'm used to calibrating and profiling media, and aware of the print head failing/drift issues of the older latex models. Also, I imagine this machine will be EOL in the not too near future
I'm also very interested in the Drytac temporary display materials, run for quality rather than speed (we sell premium printing products for galleries and artists, and these could form a good extension of our products).
The potential large project has a maintenance crew with scissor / cherry pickers, so installation would be a joint co-ordinated activity).
Viewing distance for work would be measured in yards, not inches.
So, printer, probably laminator, RIP PC (or Caldera on the Mac)... Oh, and tables(x2) are 8x4, but I could build folding wings...
I could sub most of this out, but I don't yet have a trusted partner, and I cant to expand production capacity.
Silly idea?
