Using used ink cartridges.... question?

So I have a bunch of ink cartridges that were taken out of the machine when VersaWorks said they were low, NOT EMPTY....complete waist.....not my doings. Anyway, how safe or unsafe would it be to slap them back into the machine and use the remaining ink. Seems to be a lot of ink left in them and they have been sitting on the shelf for about two years. My gut says it might be a bad idea. Any thoughts?

Google search mostly let me know that the Eco Sol Max inks (if that's what you're using) have a shelf life of 12months. Add to that the fact that they've all been pierced or "opened" I would be safe and not risk it. The cost of the ink is a lot less than the cost to fix any parts that could get damaged or clogged...just imagine if the ink gets through the system and you find out it doesn't print properly. Then all that old nasty ink is all through your printer.
