Hello from New Orleans....
Looking into purchasing a vehicle template program, seen a few different ones available. Read a few post. Still not sure which one to go with. Any help is help. Thanks Jason

I have a subscription to digitaldesignware.com. Don't depend entirely on the template though - they will screw ya' every time. Take measurements. They sell individual templates too, but they've really gone up in price - I think they are almost $50 now.

And somewhere in the premium section Fred has created a tutorial on accurate sizing from a photograph of the vehicle.

Ditto - Pro Vehicle Outlines (like it or not) is about the most comprehensive ones out and reasonably priced. Generally the overall length and width are okay but things like the curvature of the sides cannot be well accounted for on a 2d drawing without it looking odd so you still have to measure to make sure things like the upper parts of the windows will land right.

Thought I'd bump this. It looks like Christian (the guy behind the original Pro Vehicle Outlines) has jumped ship on Mr Clipart (Mr Clipart / Digitaldesignware) and has now partnered up with Cadlink to handle his website and sales of Pro Vehicle Outlines.

As some might be aware several years ago he partnered with Mr Clipart and for a few years his collection was merged with the Mr Clipart Car-n-Truck collections and you coudl not get the printed template book anymore. I personally hated the versions though Mr Clipart - more than half of the Car-n-Turck templates were for European model vehicles we do not even have in the US and when they mixed all the templates together on the discs it became a pain to find what I needed. More often than not - if the vehicle was 2008 or earlier I would go back to my old 2008 edition to find the template I wanted.

I've personally spoken with Christian quite a few times over the years and he has always been very quick to help. I've let him know of the past couple of years that I've been less than happy with the merged versions and told him that I wished the printed book was back and that I'd probably only update every few years since I disliked the merged versions. He told me many others had told him the same thing and wanted the collection back to the way it was.

Well he apparently took the advice to heart. "Pro Vehicle Outlines has now been restored to it's former excellence, both in terms of service and product and will be available shortly as a new book and DVD set, as well as an online service” states Christian Van Schepen". :rock-n-roll:

I also just noticed that Pro Vehicle Outlines as a collection has been completely removed from the Mr Clipart site as well as the digitaldesignware site. So if you like the original Pro Vehicle Outlines templates do not subscribe at digitaldesignware - you will only have access to the Mr Clip Art Car-n-Truck collection templates there now.

Edit to add - they have not yet released upgrade pricing from prior versions. I've emailed Chris to see if he can give me some info there....

Edit again to add more information. Christian just called me and confirmed what I've posted here. You can no longer get the Pro Vehicle Outlines templates from the Mr Clipart or Digitaldesignware sites. The new site is http://www.provehicleoutlines.com/

He also gave me the price on upgrading to the new 2012 DVD and full printed catalog edition. Not sure if the upgrade cost will be different if you currently own editions for other years but upgrading my 2010 edition is $249 plus $25 shipping. With that I get immediate access to any and all new templates on the website. The new catalogs and DVD will not be ready until late January. At that time he will begin shipping, also at that time your online access will also reset for a full year from that time. So you get full access online for about a year and 2 months in total.

He also told me he is adding several other nice new features some of which will make it into the new version and some which will become available online over the next few months.

edit end.....

I just got an email this morning from Cadlink and wanted to pass it on here.

I got my templates CD from ArtStation Vehicle Templates and they work very well. Reasonnably priced too. 'Looks very similar to ProVehicleOutlines, with maybe a li'l more details for overall presentations (magwheel details, grill, etc...)

Take a look: www.artstation-vehicletemplates.com

They also added a new feature for vehicle wrap pricing: http://www.artstation-vehicletemplates.com/WrapDimensionsSample.pdf

BTW, you can download individual template for $30 US so if you don't need the complete selection, this option is very usefull.
