question, Why is it when i print a colored print to the printer VP 540 it shut down after a few passes and says's "not connected". But when i send a cut job to the same printer, it works fine no issues.

Network issue likely, it'll send the whole cut file over, and the printer can work with it, but print data is constantly supplied from the rip.

I rip before i start printing, can i do something different. Is my rip bad?

it'll RIP before printing, but the printer doens't have a frame buffer, so it only holds a few passes at a time, and needs the data sent from the rip to keep going.

Uninstall and reinstall it. If problem persists have your network administrator check your system.
