Ive been chasing ink dropout on a VG-640 on 1 printedhead (lt mg/cy) for months. Replacing damper twice and captops. Finally pulled the printhead out and inspected the factory "glued in" grey orings on the top manifold and they were not seating the damper mating surfaces. Over time the o-ring becomes flattened. So instead of buying a new printhead I found some orings that would fit on the inside bottom holes of the damper, making a double seal. It did make the latch on either side slightly more difficult to seat but I believe ensured a tight seal. Its been holding for 2 days now and better than spending a $1000! Attached are the photos for the fix. ☆☆Be careful when separating the damper from the printhead. If you dont evacuate all the ink it creates a mess and can possibly damage the small circuit boards on the sides of the printhead.
