VG3-540 Encoder Strip Issues

Hi Roland Forum,

My VG3-540 started erroring out with a 0002 (0051) code. Looked it up and said to clean the Encoder Strip which I did and it worked fine for a week then now its keeps coming back. Tech ran some Aging tests and Head Tests in service mode. Tech says we need a new Strip and Sensor which unfortunately the Strip is on backorder from Roland .

The Head keeps stopping almost when it reaches the far left of the carriage, I tried to set it to print Data Width Mode only and it worked for a while and now refuses to stay in that mode and goes all the way across and errors out.

Has anyone had this issue or figured out a work around when these problems arise, i'm stuck until i can get a new Strip from Roland .

This is not an error code in the Service Manual.
Service Call 0002 has nothing to do with Linear Encoder issues.
Please post a picture of the screen with this code.
