Im starting to get into doing vinyl decals. I have a cheap silhouette vinyl cutter. It has done what I needed but its time to upgrade. I am looking for a 54" vinyl cutter that wont break the bank. I am looking at the mimak cg130-ar 61 vinyl cutter. Im not looking to spend a fortune, but later this year I am planning on buying a mimaki cjv130-150 printer and would like to use whatever vinyl cutter i buy now along with the printer when I get it. I know graphtec is a great cutter but that is out of my budget at the moment. Thanks for the help.

There is no economy in cheap[er] tools. Buy the best, it'll pay for itself in pretty much the same time or quicker as the cheapest.

If you'll be cutting all day, every day, I'd go with Summa if it's in the budget, otherwise Mimaki is a pretty good choice for any graphic/ sign shop... Heck, one of ours is a 20+ year old Mimaki CG-FX series, and it still cuts good, downfall is it doesn't have the workflow options of newer ones that make life easy... Definately got our money's worth out of that one since I don't think we've ever replaced anything other than the usual blades/ holders/ and cutting strips. I've never played with the AR series, but we also have an SR-III (one of the bottom tier) we picked up as a secondary/ backup unit, and even that's a good accurate machine, the biggest issues I have with it is most of it is plastic, and can't run it as fast as the FX, but it's still been used almost daily for about 4 years now with no issues. If you can swing it, I'd go for the FX series if you do want to stick with Mimaki. If either of ours bites the bullet, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, but that's just me.
I have one in my basement, that i don't need, but shipping it from Switzerland doesn't sound like a good idea. Recommendations in your area are also making no sense. Sorry
