Need Help Vutek media belt fraying

Our GS3250 media belt has a small amount of fraying on the right side. Has anybody ever tried to "cauterize" the frayed ends to minimize the strands from sticking up and causing head contact? We understand that we will eventually need to purchase a new belt, but wanted to get a few more miles out of the current one.

We had exactly the same issue. We did this for a while burning off the frayed edges. It was only a temporary fix and we did eventually have to replace the belt.
