What is the heck happened ? Magenta went crazy !

As you can see in the pictures , Suddenly today it's doing this ... I just finised a full wrap , went to UPS to ship it .. came back to print more and I have this ! I did a test print and it's perfect . I did a manual head cleaning with a swab , rechecked and still all messed up . I've never seen this before .

Check your encoder strip. Might be dirty. If it's not that, it looks electrical. Restart and see if the problem persists.

Yep. Did that.. encorder strip is only 2 months old.

I did a print test and all check out fine. Also today I did full 7 sheet prints and was perfect. So that means within 1 hour somehow the (New Printhead) from 2 month ago is somehow dead ?

What about the encoder strip reader? I’ve seen a piece of lint/dust get stuck over the eye and cause weird things like this.

Reseatthe short cables at both ends. If you can get into service mode, run the Fill test, post results

Yes it's supposed to be in the print , I think Magenta is in all print in some sort of way . I'm trying to determine if its the long FCC Cables that go all the way to the back or not. I know they flex a lot .. So I'm thinking its some sort of comminication error .

That type of pattern usually indicates an electrical issue. Usually a bad head cable, trailing cable, etc. If the head isn't grounded properly it can cause this. There are little metal tongues that are attached to the carriage that touch the chrome piece of the head which grounds the head. If they are bent out of place and not making contact, that can cause this. Basically, the head signal is echoing through the cable and causing a rogue signal to make it to the magenta channel.

What model are you working on? It should just be part of the carriage but your model may be different. Most Epson based machines use this method.

Take a look at the diagram below. Number 23 is the grounding plate for that model. Make sure 1. it's there at all and 2. that it's touching the chrome plate on the head and there's no ink between it that would disrupt its contact. If that is there and making contact, it's more likely a cable, head, or main board issue.

Mine seems to be missing . Ill have to order one . Seems odd as it was printing perfect yesterday.

A poorly or not grounded head can print fine a lot of the time. The "echo" I'm talking about builds over time and once it hits a certain point, you start seeing stuff like this. Try Ordway Sign Supply in southern California. If it's available, they should be able to get it. Part number 1000006531.

Any of the cables from the head to the main board can. The long FFCs absolutely can if they are damaged.
