RapidTac is nothing more than Purified water with fragrance and a surfactant additive to lower the surface tension between the liquid and the substrate. A few drops of a simple dish soap like "Dawn" or "Joy" will work just as well. Some folks prefer "Baby Shampoo". RapidTac costs an arm & leg because of shipping, MSDS, etc. and is meant for those that are just lazy enough to not mix their own concoction and/or will not or are not comfortable with mastering the 'Dry Application' method. Some folks like to add a small percentage of alcohol to the mix. Too much alcohol can be detrimental to the life of the adhesive of some vinyls. Purified Water is used in order to reduce impurities that may contribute to a mold or fungal development which may occur with water that is not chlorinated or purified by other means. Chlorinated Tap water may still contain enough impurities to promote unwanted growths or smells.
Fortunately Rapid Tac Application fluids are MUCH MORE than purified water, fragrance and surfactant.
Don't take our word for it though, The US Air Force and the Lockheed Martin Skunk Works spent over a year testing Rapid Tac Application Fluid for use in the F35 Stealth Fighter Assembly, and concluded that it not only saved the program a significant amount of money in the assembly of each jet, but also proved to significantly increase the adhesive bond between the PSA (Pressure Sensative Adhesive) materials being used and the substrate (the composite surfaces of the aircraft) over dry applications and wet applications utilizing soap and water applications. I was invited to the F35 Assembly in Fort Worth Texas to see how our products are utilized on the aircraft assembly line, as well as tour their testing facility where Skunk Works Chemical Engineers performed a ridiculous amount of testing with our products for over a year. I was truly blown away at how in depth and thorough the testing process was, but in the end it makes sense due to the nature of the process and how a failure of the Pressure Sensitive Material could bring an aircraft down. BTW... This process has nothing to do with any graphics or other lettering, numbers etc... being applied to the aircraft. In Skunk Works terms.. the application that our products are utilized in is "unacknowledged", so my apologies, I can not share all the details, just that our product performed better than expectations and solved a very large issue in teh assembly of the F35 Jet.
I'm extremely late to this conversation, but google brings up some interesting posts from the past, and we like to set the record straight and share the truth with the
