When printing sp-300v won't have vacuum on?

I set it in versaworks for the vacuum to be set to strong but when its printing it doesn't say on at all. I'm using a banner material and sometimes it lifts a little

If the vacuum sucked enough to keep material laying securely flat, it wouldn't be able to feed the material...

hmm so whats the purpose of the vacuum then?

I dont know. I have luck lowering the pre-platen temp when I get buckling in my media...
