The place to ask is in a forum appropriate to what you want to know about. We have forums for many popular brands of equipment and software for example and then catchall ones for the rest. You can also simply list it in our classifieds with a "best offer" designation to see what happens.
In the final analysis, trying to determine what something is worth is not unlike trying to pick tops and bottoms in the stock market or horses at the race track. You can make an educated guess but it may be wrong as easily as it may be right.
