Win7 64bit and installing older programs with cable adapters

Hey guys!

I have my new monster custom PC set up and everything works but ONE program.

I'm using a older version of flexi (7.6) and it runs perfectly but my cutter i use for all the small jobs is a cheap GCC brand and the driver disk it comes with supports win2k and xp. It's about 6 years old i'd say and when i go to install the usb driver on the disk i get "AddMonitor Fail 1805". Now that is a issue in itself but since my new video card doesn't have a serial port, i am using a usb to serial adaptor to connect the cutter. The usb goes into the back of my computer and the other end has a serial plug in which adapts to hook my cutter up to my computer. Not sure if that's the problem but there is no way around that unless someone knows something else that may work.

What can i really do in this situation to get things going?

Thanks, It's much appreciated.

When you go to run the install for the USB driver try right clicking it then run as admin. If that does not work then right click, properties, compatability tab ( I think its a tab) and select from the drop down box 2000 or XP and it should work. You mat have to still run it as Admin after you change the compatability in properties. One of these should work for you.

Good Luck.

Fixed it!

I found the driver for the serial to usb adapter and installed it and everything works fine now!

Thanks!
